General Counsel, Chevron Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production Company

David Moyer is General Counsel for Chevron Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production Company, based in Houston, Texas. He oversees the legal matters of three upstream strategic business units: Nigeria/Mid-Africa, Southern Africa and Latin America. 

Moyer joined Chevron in 2008 as Senior Counsel in the upstream Litigation and Arbitration Management group in San Ramon, California. In that role, he was responsible for managing a variety of legal disputes for organizations across the company. From 2012 to 2013, Moyer was Managing Counsel for Chevron’s Latin America Business Unit, based in Caracas, Venezuela, where he had oversight of upstream legal matters in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. 

Prior to joining Chevron, Moyer was an attorney in private practice for 12 years, representing corporate clients including Schlumberger, Intel and Ford Motor Company in a variety of transactions and litigation matters. He served on active duty in the U.S. Army from 1983 to 1989. He obtained a bachelor's degree in International Relations from Stanford University in 1992 and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois in 1996.

Moyer has been an adjunct faculty member for Stanford Law School’s Trial Advocacy Workshop since 2005. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Energy Law, the State Bar Association of California, and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.
